
Dr. Jake Ward is a board-certified medical optometrist with expertise in corneal disease, dry eye disorders, refractive surgery and advanced glaucoma care. He joined the practice in 2026 and is committed to providing collaborative, patient-centered care.
Dr. Ward earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Bowling Green State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, with Dean’s List honors. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry, where he tutored classmates in ocular disease management. His clinical training included an externship at one of the nation’s premier medical and surgical eye hospitals, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
Dr. Ward then went on to complete his optometric residency at the prestigious Vance Thompson Vision in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There, he trained with specialized OD/MD teams in pre- and post-operative care for cataract surgery, LASIK, PRK, ICL, corneal crosslinking, advanced corneal transplants and performed adjustments for intraocular Light Adjustable Lenses. He also gained experience in advanced glaucoma management, including Minimally Invasive Glaucoma surgery (MIGS), drug delivery devices, and selective laser therapies.
Dr. Ward actively contributes to the ophthalmic field. He has co-authored a published article on interventional glaucoma in Modern Optometry and presented original research at the American Academy of Optometry’s annual meeting. Throughout his training, he participated in ocular disease and sports vision-focused clinical groups and is a member of the American Optometric Association.
Outside of the office, Dr. Ward enjoys sports, maintaining a very active lifestyle and going to concerts.
